Shropshire Master Composter Recruitment: We're very excited to be holding our next volunteer recruitment and training day at Fordhall Organic Farm in March. If you'd like to join our team of composting enthusiasts, a wonderful group of volunteers who help people to compost effectively in Shropshire, please get in touch with Project Coordinator [email protected] . We're looking for people who can volunteer a few hours of their time regularly to promote home composting. There are lots of ways you can get involved, from attending events, helping in community gardens, giving talks, supporting schools, writing and sharing composting info online, or just having a chat with your neighbours about what amazing stuff compost is. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm and a love of composting. Our training will give you the confidence to help other to people compost effectively. See poster for details and please get in touch for more information or to book a place at our training day. See poster attached. Plastics in Soil Project with CAWR Garden Organic would like to invite you to take part in a project with Coventry University’s Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR) which will explore the levels of plastic in our soils, the impact this is having, and ways to reduce plastic contamination in the garden. You can find out more about the project here: Take part in new research on plastic pollution | Garden Organic Dr Francis Ryan from Coventry University will lead the 6-month project, and we would like to invite you to an initial workshop in Shrewsbury, where Francis will explain the project in further details, exploring the issues of plastic contamination in the garden, and how you can help be part of a larger body of research, gathering evidence from your garden or growing space. We are looking for keen gardeners with gardens of any size to get involved. Venue: The Bradbury Room, Drapers Place in Shrewsbury (Horsefair, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury, SY2 6BP) Drapers Place | Shrewsbury Drapers Company Date: Thursday 22nd of February from 3.30-5.30pm. We will be able to reimburse parking and travel costs. Please email me to confirm your place [email protected] or if you have any questions. If you know of any other keen gardeners or groups who would like to get involved, feel free to share this information with them. Booking is essential due to the venue capacity.
